Derrick Levy explores Fountaine Pajot’s fleet of new 2019 catamarans
09 Aug 2018
This July, Fountaine Pajot dealers gathered in La Rochelle France for the Shipyards annual Dealer Meeting. It is a gathering that brings together a network of the best catamaran sales companies in the world.
Reporting back on the event, Derrick Levy shares his highlights.
The intensive 3-day event took the form of workshops with international dealers, new product training sessions and visits to the various manufacturing facilities, to see the exciting growth within the Fountaine Pajot shipyard.
Fountaine Pajot is gearing up for delivery of two exciting new models in the next 6 months. The first being the Fountaine Pajot 67 sailing catamaran that will make its world debut at the Cannes Festival of Yachting in September this year. The second being the MY40 power catamaran, which will launch at Boot in Dusseldorf in January 2019.
The two new models are set to follow in the same success as the MY44 power catamaran, which has won multiple design awards across the globe since launching in 2017, and more recently the 42 sailing catamaran which has already broken sales records since release in April this year.
The time spent at the La Rochelle headquarters really solidified our recognition of the shipyards quality craftsmanship. Fountaine Pajot have recently launched a state of the art facility, which I can’t wait to invite our buyers to for the selection of their new build finishing’s.
Besides the success the MY44 has brought, I would say the stand out success for 2017 has to be the volumes that Fountaine Pajot has produced in this last year. The brand new technology being implemented, incredible testing processes, and the professional team that run the new La Rochelle facility can all take credit for this.
We are seeing a global trend in increased volume output within the power catamaran market, and with the new Motor Yacht 67 being launched the demand for Fountaine Pajots is great. But on the flip side nothing beats what a sailing catamaran can offer for the sport of sailing and Fountaine Pajot are really delivering the most beautiful liveable experiences, which make it a pleasure to travel further distances.
Whether its power or sailing, both ranges deliver on timeless good looks, quality craftsmanship and sporty performance. Owners will find the weight-to-volume ratio delivers exceptional balance and stability for an unforgettable sailing experience at any speed.
The combination of these factors result in catamarans that run economically and offer wonderful 360 degrees light filled living spaces – which are the key factors that boat buyer’s look for today.
I will be reuniting with Fountaine Pajot at the Cannes Yachting festival where we will have boat tests available for prospective buyers on the 42 and the 67, which is debuting at Cannes. Having tested the 42 already at the dealer meeting I am undoubtedly positive for new sales in these models.
