The arrival of the Azimut Fly 68, an unrivalled first for Africa

25 Nov 2023

The Azimut Fly 68 is the latest model in the Azimut Yachts flybridge series to be imported to Africa by Boating World. Arriving early in November, this is the second new yacht in the Azimut Fly series to arrive in Cape Town this year, affirming the growing customer demand for luxury motor yachts from Boating World and its represented brands in sub-Saharan Africa.

The epitome of a ‘world yacht’, the Azimut Fly 68, has been designed in collaboration with naval architect Alberto Mancini for the exteriors and world-renowned designer Achille Salvagni for the interiors to create a truly unique motor yacht that adapts to the desires of its owners and their bespoke onboard lifestyle requirements.

YACHT DESIGN AND LIFESTYLE ON BOARD

Internationally acclaimed designer Achille Salvagni created the interiors to produce maximum stylistic harmony. His unique stylistic language is a distinctive mark on several recent Azimut yacht projects, from the iconic Fly to the super yacht Grande series.

The Azimut Fly 68 borrows from the defining features of Achille Salvagni’s most iconic projects, such as smooth, curving lines, moveable furniture, generous spaces that embody the concept of informal and unostentatious conviviality, and, lastly, an extraordinary cleanness of line.

A BOLD EXTERIOR DESIGN

The exterior lines of the Azimut Fly 68 are harmonious and subtle. Designed by Alberto Mancini, who has always found inspiration in car design and built on this to develop a stylistic idiom that is breathing new life into the evolution of Azimut’s most desired yachts.

Mancini works surfaces using a modern language with decidedly advanced shape modelling and the replacement of certain steel details with fibreglass, giving strength to the design features he produces.

A FOCUS ON CARBON TECH

This project, too, is a new step forward in Azimut Yachts’ drive to build lighter vessels with more space onboard. Extensive use of carbon fibre in the new Fly 68’s topside (superstructure, hard top, and part of the deck) lowers the centre of gravity for impeccable cruising considering the generous spaces offered by the yacht. The hull designed in partnership with Pierluigi Ausonio’s firm P.L.A.N.A. is optimised to achieve maximum efficiency and autonomy, and above all, ever lower consumption levels in line with Azimut Yachts’ design philosophy.

The new Azimut Fly 68 is light, silent, and easy to manoeuvre. It features various solutions as part of Azimuts’ Enhanced Cruising Solutions programme, such as the Joystick Driving System, the Garmin Control Monitoring System, active trim control, and a Seekeeper Gyro for stabilisation. The high-efficiency hull is paired with the ideal propulsion system, comprising two Volvo IPS 1350 engines delivering a top speed of 32 knots. As well as being provided with CE (category A) certification, the new Azimut 68 meets HTS High Technical Standard requirements, testifying to the high technical standards applied to the design.
