ANOTHER CATCH FOR SIMONE ON BOARD THE RIVIERA 40 SPORT FISHER IN DURBAN
09 May 2012
Not only did Simone Badenhorst from Johannesburg catch her man recently but she’s making her mark in the world of fishing - having caught the heaviest Dorado caught by a lady in the Durban Skiboat Club Festival over the long weekend.
Not bad going considering she has only been fishing since February when her fiancé Graeme Steyn took ownership of his stunning Riviera 40 Sport Fishing boat which is moored in Durban.
Simone was thrilled with this prize winner which she caught in the deep north of Durban around mid-morning on the first day of the competition. She and the team comprising Graeme, Martin, Donovan and Zane Dresner of Boating World were trawling on a flat sea in beautifully hot, sunny conditions when suddenly the fish took the lure and the fight was on.
After only ten minutes Simone had won the battle landing this fish which won her a R1000 gift voucher from The Kingfisher tackle shop in Durban and a Skiboat Magazine. Zane also caught a Dorado which was slightly smaller than Simone’s and Donovan caught a 6kg Couta and a Dorado. Martin caught a Bonito and Graeme was unlucky this time round.
When the fishing was done the team relaxed on the plush seating around the removable table enjoying their snacks and refreshments.
The Riviera 40 boasts a host of features including a generator, air conditioning, watermaker, fighting chair, new Lowrance Generation 2 HDS-10 fishfinder/GPS, Bow thruster, radar and autopilot and Teak-laid cockpit floor – to mention a few.
