CANNES BOAT SHOW

25 Oct 2012

Boating World’s Derrick and Suzanne Levy had an exciting visit to France recently where they enjoyed a first-hand viewing of several new releases from luxury big boat builders, including Australia’s Riviera, London-manufacturer Fairline and Sunreef.

Derrick says every time one visits this show the sheer number and variety of beautiful craft on display blows one’s mind – and it was amazing to see how many new innovations there were among them.

They were also delighted to meet both Rodney Longhurst, Riviera’s new owner and Fairline’s new CEO Alistair Schofield at the show. – having very interesting and successful meetings on both occasions.

Riviera had five stunning models on the water – among them, the Riviera 43 with IPS drives and 51 Open Flybridges, the 48 Offshore Express and the new 4400 Sport Yacht. Anglers poured onto the Sport Utility Vessels – reveling in their enormous cockpit space, open-plan cruising layouts, power options and pure fishability.

Cruise lovers were wowed by the stunning 4400 which features additional cockpit seating, a new extended hardtop, greater head room in the aft cabin, LED lighting and is the first in the Sport Yacht range to introduce extremely large hull windows, similar to those in Riviera’s new 53 and 62 Series II Flybridge models.

Fairline’s magnificent display boasted a dazzling display of their whole range - including the newly launched Squadron 60 which is the epitome of luxury. She has vast space with a single level saloon, teak-laid galley and three beautiful cabins. The massive flybridge is the perfect entertainment area with griddle (braai), fridge, optional icemaker and a fantastic sunbed area.

Among the many highlights of the Show was seeing the brand new 60 and 70 Sunreef Power Cat motor yacht - making their spectacular debut at the show –  now available through Boating World

This luxurious Catamaran boasts an attractive sporty hull line, superb living space both indoors and outdoors, stable and comfortable cruising, custom finishes and long range and low fuel consumption.

Another breathtaking experience was taking a tour on board the Bennetti 93 – fully equipped with stunning features – ideal  for Mediterannean and cross ocean cruising.

This beautiful one of a kind super yacht has continuous, large windows for evocative, panoramic views over the sea. Elegant free-standing furniture perfectly fills the interior with just the right amount of space needed for maximum comfort. Modern technology employed in the controls with state-of-the-art electronics means even the owner would have no trouble manoeuvering this craft.

The sundeck is balanced between living space, with relaxing chairs and a bar area, and there is also an area that is exclusively for sunbathing, or enjoying the jacuzzi. It isn’t hard to see why this fabulous craft in is a class of its own.

These were just a few of the many magnificent craft among the 583 boats on display.
