BOATING WORLD KEEPS GROWING - WELCOME ABOARD MAT!
03 Apr 2014
Mathew Barrow has already become a familiar face to several Boating World clients, having recently joined the company as Assistant Sales Consultant. Working closely with Greg and Victor, his duties encompass a wide variety of functions from skippering luxury craft to selling boats simply completing necessary paperwork in the meticulous manner expected of all the company’s staff.
Growing up in Durban naturally fostered his love of the sea and at every opportunity Mat joined his Kearsney College friends on watersport excursions of all descriptions. Surfing, paddling, jetskiing , wakeboarding and waterskiing are among the many action-packed activities he learned to enjoy.
Coming from a boating family has been a great advantage and deepsea fishing soon became another passion. Several trips to the Seychelles have seen many good catches but his trophy haul has to be the 120kg Marlin caught at Deroche.
Many happy hours have also been spent cruising in a Fairline Squadron 50 which Mat says is a self-contained entertainment machine! Everything is right at hand - from the huge bathing platform which sports a Williams tender to the alfresco interior design – which makes entertaining a boat-load of friends and family a breeze.
But we digress...... after leaving school and attending Stellenbosch University, (where he read a BA Humanities majoring in Psychology and Visual Studies) Mat obtained his Rescue Divers license and he acquired his skipper’s ticket (over 9m).
While he is happiest outdoors either behind the helm or having fun on the water – Mat’s other interests include Endurance Races (he completed the three-day African Ex recently), marathon running and mountain biking.
Boating World is pleased to welcome this personable and capable young man on board who will undoubtedly be an asset to both the company and clients.
