NEW LAUNCH - RIVIERA 6000 FLAGSHIP
25 Sep 2014
Now this is some boat! Riviera’s largest and most sophisticated cruiser in their luxurious Sport Yacht range, the stylish new Flagship 6000, has captured the hearts and minds of those who’ve already spotted her at the recent Spring shows ‘down under’.
Apart from her good looks and sheer size at 60’ - Boating World’s Derrick Levy is convinced that her superbly solid ride, luxurious finish and entertainment appeal will be a huge hit among big boat lovers in Africa.
She’s perfect for cruising our rugged coastline with her sturdy hull (with large windows to every cabin) and new keel giving improved directional stability and tracking. This is one of the first boats in Australia to have full joystick steering while underway and it comes as a standard feature.
Even fully loaded the Riviera 6000 has all the necessary ‘oomph’ for longer trips with her fuel-efficient twin Volvo IPS 950s reaching a top speed of over around 31 knots. They impressively low on noise and offer long range cruising of 281nm at 22 knots (with 10% fuel reserve).
And there’s simply no doubt about her main purpose – comfort, practicality and entertainment! The myriad of amenities make sure of that! Four-staterooms, three bathrooms, stylish hull windows and portholes, dual electric sliding sunroofs and fixed skylights … as well as a large, open cockpit undercover seating and dining areas - are just the start!
Guests will naturally gravitate towards the generous cockpit which has loads of space for moving around, comfortable seating and of course the essential BBQ centre. They’ll be well protected by the sunroof which extends over the seating area and it can be opened to let in the sun and a breeze. By the way you’ll find an additional pop-up joystick in the cockpit which is great for tight marina manouevering whether operating solo or with a novice crew.
Next door the U-shaped aft galley (with awning opening into the cockpit) will be the hub of food prep. This popular spot leads to the beautifully appointed saloon which oozes luxury and an abundance of plush seating. It’s really hard to resist flopping down right there to relax for a chat or a spot of TV viewing. Conveniently this is swing mounted for multidirectional viewing.
Moving forward you’ll definitely stop to admire the impressive sports-styled helm station which sinks into the dash offering amazing visibility. There’s no lack of fresh air or light here thanks to the large glass sunroof.
If you can drag yourself away down below decks, you’ll find four gorgeous staterooms and three bathrooms, perfect for retiring after a hard day’s play. There’s a large utility room behind the master stateroom for storage or crew quarters.
Underneath the cockpit of the 6000 Sport Yacht is a large garage for a 3.2-metre tender and outboard that can be easily loaded using the built-in electric winch, or for a jet ski to be securely stored with additional room for accessories and water toys.
The list simply goes on and on….so for more information Boating World will gladly fill you in!
