There is bright new future on the horizon for Fairline following the announcement of the recent buyout by Russian investors Alexander Volov and Igor Glyanenko. The pair are both UK-based businessmen with a background in media and are passionate boat owners.

The newly formed company, to be renamed Fairline Yachts has announced the appointment of industry veteran, Russell Currie as the Managing Director.

With nearly 30 years directly relevant experience, Russell has a very strong background in the luxury motor yacht industry. A Fairline dealer since 1998, Russell held the position as CEO of Fairline North Mallorca. Prior to his role at Fairline North Mallorca, Russell was Engineering Director at Sunseeker International’s factory team based at Mallorca, and was Chief Test Engineer at Princess Yachts International before that.

In a recent interview Russell commented: “I am delighted to have been appointed Managing Director for Fairline Yachts. With the resources of the investors, coupled with the expert knowledge of the management team and our energy and passion for the brand, the structure is in place for a great future for Fairline Yachts. We will focus on creating high quality luxury motor yachts that boaters will want to own and dealers will want to sell.

He said: “We will have a pared down production line and will concentrate on our facilities at Oundle’s Nene Valley Industrial Estate.

“We will be running an efficient, lean manufacturing company making great luxury boats of fabulous quality. The flexibility of size of the company means we will be able to adapt to market demands around the world.” Russell stated.

“We have immense respect for Russell and have always enjoyed our working relationship with him over the years. He has already put together a strong team and we believe in the energy his vision brings to the Fairline brand.” says Derrick Levy of Boating World.
