First Seakeeper Boat Stabiliser installed in South Africa

01 Oct 2017

Boating World had the pleasure of hosting our partners from Seakeeper Inc in Cape Town for a two day indepth training session on the Seakeeper range of giroscopic boat stablisers, as well as actual installation training. Invited to the session was Boating World’s entire technical and sales team as well as independent technicians, whom all benefitted from the training.

Seakeeper stabilisers are designed to virtually eliminate boat roll on vessels 30 foot and up.  Today yacht builders are designing new vessels with the installation of Seakeepers in mind. They come fitted with a number of new yachts that Boating World sells, including Fairline, Riviera and Sea Ray.

There is also a high demand for retro fitting Seakeepers as they require modest electrical power, no outside appendages, and can be installed virtually anywhere on board.

The latest product in the line, the Seakeeper 3, designed for 30 – 39 foot boats, was recently awarded the NMMA Innovation Award for Mechanical Systems.

Our visit from Seakeeper was completed by us installing a Seakeeper 9 on a 65 foot yacht for a client in Cape Town. The Seakeeper 9 is specifically designed for yachts weighing upto 30 tons and can eliminate boat roll up to 95%. The installation was completed in one day with a delighted client, whom could enjoy his new enhanced yachting experience just in time for the weekend.
