The 2019 Multihull of the Year Award selected Yachts

11 Dec 2018

Boating World is elated to announce that four new models from Fountaine Pajot and Sunreef have been shortlisted for the 2019 Multihull of the Year Award which will be announced in April at the International Multihull Boat Show - La Grande Motte, France.

The awards are organised by Multihulls World Magazine and its French language version Multicoques Mag, and the shortlisted boats have been chosen from over 70 Catamaran or Trimaran released over 2018/2019.

Our nominated boats in include:

Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42
Category - 41 to 55 feet

What the Judges Say “The new catamaran from Fountaine Pajot is undeniably a successful boat. It's a nice, comfortable and (technically) accessible cruising machine! The relationship between maneuverability, handling in overcrowded marinas and the interior-exterior layout is remarkable. Stealthy enough to slip into the small Greek ports, yet agile and seaworthy enough to create long blue wakes on the ocean, or quieter coastal trips, the Astréa is a multihull with many qualities.”

Fountaine Pajot Alegria 67
Category - Over 55 feet

What the Judges say “It was at the Yachting Festival in Cannes that we were able to discover the brand new flagship in the Fountaine Pajot fleet. And it was also on this occasion that the name of this boat, which had until then only been known by the code-name of New 67 was revealed: Alegria 67. This very high-end model offers some exceptional features, with a very large flybridge, a forward cockpit able to accommodate a Jacuzzi and which is accessible from the inside, and several versions, to satisfy demanding owners or charterers, with up to 6 cabins and even a galley-down option. But the best of the best is the owner’s cabin... A must!”

Sunreef Sailing 60
Category - Over 55 feet

What the Judges say “Sunreef had announced a "new range" at the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival. A year later, and we were able to discover the 60 and the 80 from the drawing tables of the yard’s design team. With the 60, space is king, and the volume available for life on board impressive, even for a boat of this size. The finish is exemplary and the Sunreef 60 presented at Cannes offers facilities for 10 people (not counting the crew) in 5 beautiful double cabins which are very airy, and each with an impressive bathroom. But it’s up on the flybridge that we are perhaps the most impressed: it is equipped with a jacuzzi, sunbathing area, a barbecue... A boat for enjoying life!”

Fountaine Pajot MY 40
Category - Power Cat

What the Judges Say “Following on from the MY 37 which caused a sensation when it was launched, then the 44, Fountaine Pajot will be launching, in the next few weeks, the brand new boat in its MY range, the 40. Drawn by naval architect Daniel Andrieu and designed by Pierangelo Andreani Yacht Design, this all-new model will of course offer excellent performance under motor, but also an impressive amount of living space aboard this size boat. We will especially find there the incredible living space on board which always impresses motor yacht fans. To be discovered at its world premiere at the Düsseldorf show in January 2019.”

Sunreef 40 Open
Category - Power Cat

What the Judges Say “Presented as a preview at the Dubai Boat Show and at the last Cannes Yachting Festival, the 40 Open Sunreef Power is renewing the power cat genre. At only 40 feet (12.75 m) in length, the catamaran is capable of reaching 60 knots top speed and cruising at 35 (on the foiling version). The objective here is to propose a day-cruiser to go out to have fun at sea during the day and be able to return to enjoy the port at night... So here is a platform with foldable bulwarks so you can increase the living space when at anchor. Magic!”
