Fountaine Pajot 2019 European Yacht of the Year Winner

14 Feb 2019

The year 2019 starts off with yet another achievement for Fountaine Pajot as their highly coveted sailing catamaran, the Astréa 42, is awarded for the best multihull in the European Yacht of the Year 2019 award. It is with no doubt that the team from Fountaine Pajot are excited to have received such a prestigious award, after winning the “Best Multihull of the Year Award” by Le Monde du Multicoque and Voile Magazine last year.

Since her debut at La Grande Motte in France in 2018, the Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42 has made headlines in the boating community and earned critical acclaim by industry professionals, setting new sales records for Fountaine Pajot.

Every year around 60 new sailing boats are launched on the European market. But only five shipyards can celebrate the title "European Yacht of the Year 2019". The first tests took the jury members of the twelve sailing magazines from all over Europe to Ellös on Orust in Sweden at the end of August, followed in October by the second test phase off Port Ginesta south of Barcelona. All 19 candidates were intensively tested and evaluated. In total, the specialist journalists covered almost 2,000 nautical miles with the nominated yachts.

The Fountaine Pajot Astréa 42 was a finalist alongside two other entries for the Sailing Multihull class, one in five categories for the European Yacht of the Year awards, also known as the “Oscars of Water Sports”.
