Boating World will be sponsoring a gift hamper prize in this year’s Billfish Competition to be held in Durban at the end of this month from Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th

Registration takes place in the marquee at the Royal Natal Yacht Club on the Wednesday evening from 6pm, followed by the opening ceremony and dinner from 7pm – fishing starts the next morning.

Great catches are expected in this annual event which has become a popular feature on the billfish angling calendar - attracting around 100 anglers each year.

The boats will gather for a sailpast at 5.45am from Durban harbour before racing off to find the best fishing spots along the coast from Amanzimtoti to Salt Rock.

Only gamefish can be landed in this competition and all Billfish are strictly on a catch and release basis. The public are invited to view the catches at the gantry at Café Fish at Durban Marina from 4pm each day and on Saturday from 3pm.

No doubt there will be a rush of Wahoo, Dorado, Tuna and other species coming in at the last minute with anglers keen to bag one of the great prizes up for grabs.

Happy hour takes place in the marquee from 4.30 each afternoon followed by prize giving and all anglers will be looking forward to the closing ceremony, dinner and main prize giving on Saturday evening.
